There are two main reasons this blog exists: serving you and marketing my offerings (which exist to serve you).
Analytics data tell a site owner much, but what they don’t tell is why.
Sometimes it’s obvious. If traffic spikes after a particular post, and people start linking to it like crazy, it’s easy to make the connection. Readers like that. Do more of it. If traffic drops off substantially after some action like a site revamp, the message a site owner might take from that is “change it back.”
But when there’s slow growth or slow attrition, it’s really hard to tell why, or what’s working and what’s not.
Please email me, facebook message me, or comment here (comments on this post will not show to other readers, but will come to me) and tell me what you want to see here and what you don’t.
If you are new or sticking around, I’d be honored if you’d tell me why you’re reading.
If you were reading the blog but stopped until you were sent this post or saw it on social media, please tell me why and I will do what I can. I feel I owe you that much.
It’s not every day you have the chance to influence a blog, right?
Thank you—each and every one of you.
