About Jennifer Harshman

There’s something you need to know about Jennifer Harshman: I understand the dreams and the pains of writing. I know how scary it is to face that blank page, and, when it’s done, to hand your work over to someone who is going to edit it. I know how important it is to find someone you can trust.
My purpose is to come alongside you and walk you through the process, whether you’re at the very beginning and have never written anything in your life, or whether you’ve already published books but are struggling with your new one.
While I do help you with the technical aspects of writing and self-publishing, and can even do it for you, my biggest strength is helping you with the emotional aspects. It’s a roller-coaster ride, and it’s easier when you have someone there who can tell you it’s going to be okay. It’s common for people to approach me when they’re afraid or when they don’t know where to start, and by the end of our conversation, they know their direction and are ready to go.
My journey through an abusive childhood and chronic illnesses has taught me about integrity, honesty, and the value of hard work. These are qualities I bring into my own family. They’re also what you’ll find at the core of everything I do at Harshman Services, to your benefit.
Some days I might only be able to move my fingers, but on those days I’m still working on my trusty laptop, doing what I love: helping aspiring writers and small business owners like you live their dreams.
Credentials
Words are my world. I started reading and writing when I was three years old, and I’ve never stopped since then. I read an average of a book a day and have read over 20,000 books so far. This is many times more than most editors read in an entire career. I say this only to show how it helps you: it contributed greatly to my abilities that benefit you.
I’ve served clients since 1992 with my writing and editing skills. I’ve created and edited books, manuals, and several kinds of marketing materials. I still do those things and now I also help clients communicate in writing through coaching and transcription services, but it’s more than just that. Heroes like you sometimes need some help to achieve their dreams of being a writer or having a business. A side gig can be a sanity-saver and a money-maker for stay-at-home parents, for example. My role is to be your helper when you need it.
On my blog, you’ll find posts that explain what you might need to know and posts that are designed to encourage you. Feel free to bookmark and share any you find helpful.
I care—maybe too much.
When I was in high school, I would write in yearbooks, “Don’t drive drunk—call me!” and eventually word spread that I meant it. I didn’t receive any compensation for that, and they weren’t people I really knew, but I’d still show up when someone called. I just wanted to make a difference in people’s lives, and waking up in the middle of the night to give someone a safe drive home was worth it.
That’s the sort of consideration you’ll be getting in every service I offer. If I’m not the right fit, I’ll tell you and try to find you a better solution. Perhaps that’s all you need to know about Jennifer Harshman.
Tame your writing dragon for a better life
I have three children I homeschooled between clients for years (they’ve all graduated). I’m building a better life every step of the way and hope to help you do the same.
Life won’t always be easy. Tasks may seem like impossible fire-breathing dragons. But you can tame your writing dragon, and I’m here to stand with you as you do it. You are the hero here. You can make a difference. I’d be honored to help.
