Planning can grow your business, whether you’re an author or an editor. Strategic planning is a specific type of planning, and it can help you plot out step by step what you want to do.
When you know what you need to do every day—today, tomorrow, next week, next month, and next year—it eliminates indecision, reduces wasted time, gives you a direction to go in, and helps you make progress that makes a difference.
If you ever hope to obtain outside funding for your business, such as getting a bank loan, you’ll need to present the potential funders with a solid business plan. Going through the strategic planning process will help you present your case. Helping you get funded is just one way that planning can grow your business.
Book on planning can grow your business
The best book I’ve seen on strategic planning is Conquer the Entrepreneur’s Kryptonite by James Woosley. Yes, I am probably biased because I edited it and the workbook that goes with it. But that doesn’t change the fact that it is the best one I’ve seen. It has what you need and is the most accessible—it breaks down the concepts and steps into pieces anyone can handle. You don’t have to be a strategic planning professional to use this book. Get your copy by clicking the images (affiliate links).
