Asked to write Your Book Bakery book
The book rose out of my group coaching program. Participants asked me if I’d write a Your Book Bakery book for them.
I asked if the manual I had written for them was not enough.
To that, they said they loved the manual but wanted a full book that they could use and also share with others who might want to write a book.
First draft in less than 30 days
So I agreed to write a book for them. In a couple of weeks, I had my first draft of the Your Book Bakery book researched and written, and I ran it by them.
They loved it. Some of them asked for a few additions, and I made those, too.
But wait a minute.
Did it really take me just a couple of weeks to research, outline, and write the Your Book Bakery book? Yes and no.
Having enough subject matter knowledge
The ingredients for this particular book had been accumulating in my brain for years. Decades, even. I have been helping authors since the 1990s, after all. I did need to do a little research regarding the title and what all I would need to put into the book, but most of it was already there in my brain. Some of it was already on my computer, too, in the form of partially baked books, blog posts, and notes.
This fact is true for many of my clients, and it’s probably true for you, too. The contents of your book have been bubbling around in your brain for a long time. It’s time to get them out of there and onto the counter. Then, we can figure out what needs to go into your book and what can be used for other things.
You can, on your own or together with me—whether that’s via my book or group coaching—plan and position your book. Then you can write it (with or without help).
I promise that if you can follow a recipe to bake a cake and if you will bring the willingness needed to stick to it, then you can write a helpful nonfiction book.
